Our Christmas Season is well underway! Once again, we are reaching out to you for a donation of your hard earned cash so that we can continue our Christmas Giving Program.

We always wonder how in heaven’s name we are going to be able to get somewhere around 15,000 gifts. To say that it causes us to doubt is an understatement! However, we have learned from the past, and what you have taught us is that you are there and ready to help. We are praying that this year is no exception. We could show you pictures of mothers waiting to sign up their children. Last year, we had three mothers waiting to sign up at 5:00 a.m., that’s right 5:00 a.m., on the first Saturday in October. We could show you pictures of poorly dressed kids with dirty faces and all that stuff, but we don’t because we believe it demeans those we serve. What we cannot show you is the worry, the hesitation, the fear we see all too frequently when we take applications. We cannot possibly pass along to you these feelings, but they are real enough. They are so real, in fact, that if you were to volunteer with us, you would soon find yourself picking up these feelings from the parents who apply. You would soon sit with a mother who has to decide between spending $4.00 for each of her children, and possibly feeding her family. We hear these stories often in the days leading up to Christmas, so much so that we are all on pins and needles until we receive your Christmas donation. It is then that this great miracle of Christmas starts to spread to everyone who is involved with this program. Christmas cheer is real! We know that, because of you, we who serve “the least, the last, and the left out” will be overwhelmed by your generosity and the hundreds of friends like you who will choose to respond to our cry for help. Whichever way you decide to be a “Christmas Angel” is fine. Your donation will be greatly appreciated by us and the families who benefit from your donation.
